Congress Provides New Replacement Window Incentives

The newly enacted American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, or the Stimulus Bill, offers you incentives for improving your home’s energy efficiency. For 2009 and 2010, the tax credit for qualified energy efficiency improvements will increase to 30% with a maximum of $1,500*.

There has never been a better time to call Window World for your vinyl replacement windows.

Qualifying and Claiming Tax Credit is as Easy as 1-2-3*:

To get in on the energy cost savings, as well as the attractive tax incentives:

  • Purchase qualifying windows and/or doors from Window World.
  • Have your windows and/or doors installed between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010.
  • Claim the tax credit on your federal filing for the 2009 and/or 2010 tax year.

A “qualifying” window or door is one that carries both a U-Factor equal to or less than 0.30 and a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) equal to or less than 0.30. You can find more information on energy ratings and qualifying products at the ENERGY STAR® website.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do you determine the energy efficiency of a replacement window?

2. Isn’t there some kind of tax incentive to install replacement windows?

3. What documentation do I require for the tax credit?

4. So, how do I get started?

How do you determine the energy efficiency of a replacement window?
Every replacement window from Window World carries an NFRC rating label. The National Fenestration Rating Council is an independent testing organization that measures how well each window resists the transfer of heat and cold. This is the window’s “U-factor.” The lower the U-factor number, the better insulating quality of the window.
Isn’t there some kind of tax incentive to install replacement windows?
Yes. There has never been a better time to start saving on your heating and cooling bills. The U.S. Congress recently enacted the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, also known as the Stimulus Package. For 2009 and 2010, the tax credit for qualified energy efficiency improvements during the taxable year increases to 30% of the cost of items like replacement windows. There are rules and restrictions, which you can read about here.
What documentation do I require for the tax credit?
You will be required to save your sales receipt (Invoice) and the NFRC/ENERGY STAR label for your tax preparer. The NFRC/ENERGY STAR labels will be stuck on every window that you purchase.
So, how do I get started?
The first step is to call us for a free, in-home, no-obligation window demonstration. A replacement window specialist will discuss your window options, the potential cost savings and the installation process, as well as answer any questions you may have.
